Introduction

Every father leaves a legacy. That legacy is reflected in his character, wisdom and impact on the destiny of those around him. A father’s greatest assignment is not merely to provide materially, but to guide his family spiritually.

A faithful father is one who:

  • Knows God
  • Obeys God
  • Leads his family in God’s ways
  • Protects the destiny of his children
  • Builds spiritually, financially, and in all areas of life.

Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, demonstrates the qualities of a father who leaves a legacy. He was:

  • Just and Righteous: Matthew 1:19
  • Compassionate and Merciful
  • Immediate Obedience to God
  • A Covering and Spiritual Shepherd of His Family: Matthew 2:13
  • Protective d God’s Purpose and Vision
  • A provider and working man
  • A faithful covenant partner
  • Spiritually sensitive (prayerful, discerning and spiritually alert)

A wise father leaves more than possessions. He leaves a legacy of faith, obedience, righteousness, and spiritual leadership. Like Joseph, fathers are called to know God, obey Him, protect their families, and nurture God’s purpose in the next generation.

Key Thought:
“The greatest inheritance a father can leave his children is a life that points them to God.”
